Back-to-School Part 2 – For the Student and Parent

Stamping into the School Year

As summer comes to a close, it’s time to start getting back into the swing of school. If you’re a student, or the parent of a student, you’ll want to start the school year off on the right foot. Rubber stamps are a great tool to help you stay organized and make this upcoming school year the best one yet. Here are just a few ways rubber stamps are a useful addition to every school supply list.

Organization

One of the biggest challenges for a student is staying organized. When you’re managing several upcoming assignments, exams, and projects across a multitude of classes, organization is necessary. Rubber stamps can help you label folders, binders, assignments, grades and more. The 46119 Printy is a great tool to help you keep track of due dates.

Creative Projects

Visual projects are inevitable when it comes to school. Posters and display boards can be tedious to create and often feel impersonal. Rubber stamps can help you spark creativity and add a personal touch to your projects that will make you unforgettable in your teacher’s mind, and show you’ve put in the effort to achieve the grade you deserve! The Trodat 9411 Mobile Stamp is perfect for stamping poster board. The best part – it’s handheld, so it fits in your backpack and can be carried with you wherever you go.

Property Markers

When you’re at school, you’ve got a lot on your mind. Whether it’s schoolwork, friends, or the upcoming football game, you might be a little distracted when it comes to your property. It’s understandable that you didn’t notice that you left your jacket in math class. Don’t worry! The Permanent Clothing Stamp is non-toxic and remains stamped on even after it takes a trip through the wash. It’s perfect for stamping your name onto your clothes, your backpack, and your other belongings. Never lose your stuff at school again. Just stamp your name and phone number on the tag, and your teacher or fellow classmate will know just who to return your beloved sweatshirt to.

Back-to-School is Right Around the Corner – Make Sure You’re Ready

Summer will end before you know it. Make sure you have all your stamping needs before school is back in session. Check out our catalog online for all your back-to-school essentials, or call us at 1 (850) 778-2677 for more information!

50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 12 Learning the Arts

learning sewing with prestamped patterns

Part 12, the final part of our 50 Uses for Rubber Stamps series, brings creative ways to use your rubber stamps to aid in learning various art styles!

50. Paint-By-Number, Sewing, & Carving

→ Want to paint, but don’t have a knack for it? Have a child who wants to get into painting but don’t know how to get them started? Art lessons can be expensive, as can art supplies and instructional books. Create your own DIY paint-by-number art using a custom rubber stamp. With one stamp, you can make as many designs as your imagination can dream up. Get your child involved by having them help create their own paint-by-number projects. Make it a family activity for everyone to enjoy.

→ Just learning how to sew, stitch, or embroider? Looking to save time on intricate projects? Prestamp your patterns right onto the fabric! This also comes in handy when teaching beginners in any of these arts. Prestamped patterns improves accuracy and raises the overall quality of the finished product. No more guessing. No more sticking yourself with all those pins while trying to hold together a paper pattern. Stamp your pattern, sew your masterpiece, and say goodbye to all that extra stress and hassle. Working so smoothly and efficiently will give you an extra boost of confidence as you hone your craft.

→ Are you learning to carve wood or a similar medium? Rubber stamps can be used to prestamp patterns onto multiple mediums. Much like prestamping cross stitch, embroidery, and sewing patterns, this allows you to create a template to work from when creating your artistic masterpiece. Having a prestamped pattern will help accelerate the learning process by providing a guide for beginners to work from. As with sewing, having a prestamped pattern improves accuracy and ensures a higher quality finished product. This will allow you to focus on practicing your technique rather than figuring out what pattern you’re supposed to be carving.

50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 11 (DIY Phone Case)

DIY custom phone case

Part 11 of our 50 Uses for Rubber Stamps series brings a great idea for creating your own custom DIY phone case!

49 – DIY Phone Case

Here are the 4 simple steps to creating your own custom phone case.

Supplies

  • Your phone
  • A clear phone case
  • A piece of paper
  • a pencil
  • scissors

Step 1: Cut the paper to fit the case

You want the paper to be the correct size to fit in the case without too much extra to spare. The easiest way to do this is to take the case, lay it face down on the piece of paper, and trace the shape of the case. This will give you a good estimate to start with. You can trim to fit as needed.

Step 2: Trace holes for the camera and speaker

Once you have the paper cut to fit, you need to cut out the holes for the camera and speaker. Simply place the paper in the case and use your pencil to trace the speaker and camera holes onto the paper. Cutout these holes and double check to make sure they are lined up correctly.

Step 3: Decorate your new case

This is the fun part! Take your new custom rubber stamp and go to town. No more being limited by the imagination of commercial case designers. Create a one-of-a-kind case that fits your personal style.

Step 4: Assemble your custom phone case

It’s time to put all the pieces together. Put the paper in the case and snap your phone into place. Now you’ve got a custom case that can’t be found on any store shelf.

Step 5: Add some variety

Why stop at one pattern? Use your first design as a template to create more. Take the paper out of the, trace it as many times as you like and rather than one custom case you’ve now got unlimited designs all for the price of one! Want a different colored case to match every outfit? No problem, just trace a new pattern. Change your mind about a style choice? Just create a new style. Unlimited style at minimal cost!

50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 10 (Stationary Projects)

stationary project stamp ideas

Part 10 of our 50 Uses for Rubber Stamps series brings great ideas for stationary projects! Here are a few great ideas from Rubber Stamp Station to help you narrow down what kind of stamp you need for your stationary projects.

47. Faux Foil Printing on Stationary

Foil printing on business cards and other stationary can get very expensive. Fortunately, it is possible to add your own faux foil printing to spice up your custom stationary . All you need is a stamp pad with metallic ink! Faux foil borders, text, and logos will really set you business card, invitations, and other custom stationary projects apart from the rest of the crowd without costing a fortune.

Product Warning: Trodat stamps were not made to be used with other brands of ink. Using non-Trodat ink may permanently damage your stamp and render it unable to function for its intended purpose.

48. Multicolored Stamp Impressions

Are you tired of always stamping with the same color of ink? When you use a Trodat stamp that requires an ink pad, you can purchase multiple colors of ink. But, rather than simply stamping with one color of ink, you can carefully apply multiple colors to create a unique, multicolored impression. All you need is your custom stamp, Trodat ink pads containing the colors of your choice, and a small paint brush for each color. It is best to have one paint brush for each color so you avoid having to stop and wash your brush between colors. Once you have all your supplies, simply take each brush and apply the individual colors where you want them to show up on the stamp. When you are done, test the stamp impression on a piece of scrap paper.

It may take some trial and error to figure out how much ink to apply. You will likely need to apply several coats to each section as the ink will be harder to apply with a brush than it would be by simply pressing the stamp into the pad. The more intricate the stamp design is, the more difficult this technique will be. Bear this in mind when selecting your stamp for this projects. Larger lettering and less detailed graphics will make this project easier.

50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 8 (DIY Projects)

ideas for DIY projects Part 8 brings great ideas for DIY projects. Here are some more great ideas to help you narrow down what kind of stamp you need for your DIY projects.

42. DIY Embossed Velvet Clothing and Accessories

You will need a rubber stamp, an iron, and ironing board, a spray bottle with water, and the velvet item you wish to emboss. First, lay the stamp face up on your ironing board. Place the velvet on top of the stamp face down. Spritz the back of the velvet with water, then press the iron to the back of the velvet for approximately thirty seconds. Remove the iron and lift the velvet off the stamp. Place the velvet face up on the ironing board to cool. Let the pattern set until the fabric has returned to room temperature.

This DIY technique can be applied to clothing and accessories such as jackets, bags, purses, scarves, shirts, dresses, skirts, hats, earmuffs, gloves, and slippers. It can also be applied to household items such as throws, curtains, pillows, wall hangings, upholstery, jewelry, gift bags, and journal covers just to name a few.

Safety Disclaimer: It is easy to burn delicate fabrics such as velvet with a hot iron. Set your iron to recommended setting for velvet fabrics and immediately remove the iron from the velvet if you start to smell the fabric burning.

43. Reverse stamping with bleach

When you think of stamping, you probably think of using your rubber stamp to add ink to create an impression. But it is also possible to use your stamp to subtract ink to create an impression. All you need is paper towels, a recycled lid from a plastic container, bleach, and colored paper. Fold up a few paper towels and put them in the plastic lid. Apply bleach to the paper towels to create a DIY stamp pad. Use your rubber stamp to apply to bleach to the colored paper and be amazed as the bleach removes the colored ink embedded in the paper, created a reverse stamping affect.

Product disclaimer: Understand that your stamp was not designed to be used at high temperatures or with any stamping medium other than Trodant brand ink and paper. It is possible that your stamp may no longer work properly for its intended purpose after being used for any of the projects described above.

50 Uses for Rubber Stamps – Part 7 (Children)

children arts and crafts

We’re back with part 7 of our 50 Uses for Rubber Stamps series! Part 7 brings great ideas for children. Here are some more great ideas to help you narrow down what kind of stamp you need for your children.

37. Sign artwork

Many children love arts and crafts. A custom rubber stamp is the perfect way for your child to easily sign their artwork and craft projects. You wouldn’t want them getting mixed up with someone else’s. Keep track of your child’s treasured memories.

38. Decorate children’s bedroom walls

Children love “decorating” walls. Why not let them do so in a constructive way? Use your custom rubber stamp to help them decorate their bedroom walls. It’s quick, easy, and mess free. No more finger paints, stained clothes, or frantic cleanup jobs. Channel all that energy and creativity and make memories that will last a lifetime!

39. Customize t-shirts

Our custom clothing stamps are perfect for decorating t-shirts, leggings, and any other clothing your child desires. Channel that creative energy into a project for the whole family to enjoy. Help them make presents for mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, brothers, and sisters. Decorate their own clothes for the first day of school! Who knows, maybe one day they’ll become a fashion designer!

40. Mark clothing

Children have a habit of leaving things in odd places. Use a clothing stamp to mark their clothing with their name, address, and phone number. Next time they leave a sweater at the mall or school it will be easy for a good samaritan to return the wayward clothing.

41. Temporary tattoos

Kids love decorating themselves almost as much as they love decorating walls and clothing. Temporary tattoos are a fun addition to any birthday party or sleepover. Use a custom hand stamp to give the kids fun temporary tattoos that will easily come off will a little soap and water. Rather than going out and buying expensive temporary tattoos that are complicated and messy to apply, just get a custom hand stamp that is mess free, safe, simple, and takes only an instant to apply. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Tips for Scrapbooking with Rubber Stamps

Scrapbooking Rubber Stamps

Are you a crafter looking to spice up the pages of your scrapbooks? Search no further than scrapbooking rubber stamps! There are many possible ways in which you can use these handy tools for your scrapbooking projects. Here are just a few of them:

  • To add personalized text to a page
  • To decorate a page with colorful logos that relate to the theme
  • To emphasize something specific on a page, such as a photo or a caption
  • To make the whole theme of a page stand out

This is just a short list of the options you’ll have when you incorporate scrapbooking rubber stamps into your project toolkit. Now that you’ve been introduced to the versatility of rubber stamps for scrapbooking, it’s time to discuss some best practices for using these stamps:

  • Scrapbooking paper can be expensive, so you want to avoid wasting it. Therefore, we recommend always testing out your stamps on a piece of scrap paper before using them in your scrapbooks. Doing so will allow you to get a feel for how much pressure you need to apply in order to get a crisp, even impression.
  • Another tip for using scrapbooking rubber stamps is to stand up while stamping, especially when using larger stamps. This position will allow you to easily gauge how much pressure you are applying to the stamp, which can be difficult to do when you are sitting down. In turn, there will be less of a chance that your stamp impression will end up looking uneven.
  • Getting the spacing right when adding stamps to your scrapbook pages can be tricky. To work around this, we suggest stamping onto a smaller piece of paper and then adding it to the page as an embellishment. Using this trick will ensure that a lopsided stamp impression doesn’t ruin your page and allow you to use up those smaller pieces of paper. Plus, you can use decorative edge scissors on your embellishments to make them look fancy.

When you follow these simple tips, scrapbooking with rubber stamps will be a breeze!
